Protests in India have brought opposition parties back into public view.
The article says that opposing the BJP is not enough to build a strong political alternative.
It praises the Cockroach Janta Party for connecting anger about NEET with demands to improve education.
The INDIA bloc has also joined protests about alleged problems with voter lists.
But the article says people do not know exactly which parties belong to the bloc or what common plans they support.
It points to changes in the bloc’s Tamil Nadu membership as an example of unclear rules.
It argues that a stronger alternative needs clear ideas, trusted leadership and fresh thinking.
The article argues that recent protests have revived opposition politics, but says the INDIA bloc needs a clearer purpose than opposing the BJP.
It credits the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) with turning opposition to NEET into calls for education reform and sustaining protests despite a crackdown.
The INDIA bloc has mobilised around allegations of voter-roll manipulation, known as the SIR issue, amid arrests of opposition leaders.
The article questions the bloc’s membership rules, noting that the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam joined after the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam’s exit, despite having no MP tally.
It says the bloc lacks clear membership, a shared agenda and an agreed spokesperson, leaving room for a better-defined alternative alliance.
