India Allows Limited Wheat Flour Exports
India has decided to let some wheat flour and related products be exported.
This is a limited amount, up to 500,000 metric tonnes.
The government had stopped exporting these items in 2022 because there was not enough wheat due to bad weather.
Now, they have more wheat, so they are allowing some exports again.
Companies that want to export need to apply and meet certain rules.
The government will check these applications and give permission to those who qualify.
This is good news for businesses that sell wheat products to other countries.
India allows export of 500,000 metric tonnes of wheat flour and related products.
The export ban was imposed in May 2022 due to a heatwave reducing wheat output.
Exports will be regulated by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT).
Applications for export authorisation will be accepted online, with the first window from 21 January to 31 January 2026.
Wheat production in 2024-25 reached a record 117.95 million tonnes, up from 113.29 million tonnes the previous year.
