Meitei MLA Visits Kuki Villages in Manipur
A Meitei MLA named Yumnam Khemchand Singh visited Kuki villages in Manipur to talk about peace.
He went to two villages, Litan and Chassad, and spoke to people in a relief camp.
He said that everyone should work together to make the state better and not let the conflict affect the future of children.
He also mentioned that there are conflicts everywhere, but people should learn to live in harmony.
He promised to help build houses for those who lost their homes.
This was a big step because not many people are willing to visit other communities' areas after the violence.
However, some Kuki groups said his visit was not genuine and called it a publicity stunt.
They felt he should have spoken up earlier during the violence.
Despite this, some Meitei organizations welcomed his effort and said it was a good step towards peace.
Meitei MLA Yumnam Khemchand Singh visited Kuki villages in Manipur's hill districts to promote unity and peace.
He interacted with Kuki villagers and inmates at a relief camp, emphasizing the importance of harmony and progress.
Over 250 lives have been lost, and more than 1 lakh people are displaced due to the Meitei-Kuki ethnic conflict.
Singh promised to help construct 7000 houses for internally displaced persons and appealed for peace during Christmas.
This visit is significant as Singh is the first BJP Meitei MLA to enter a Kuki relief camp since the violence began, but Kuki-Zo groups dismissed it as a 'publicity stunt'.
