India's Thermal Coal Stocks Rise Due to Lower Power Demand
India's coal storage at power plants has grown because people are using less electricity than expected.
This is because it has been raining more than usual, reducing the need for power, and also increasing the production of electricity from water.
Coal production has also increased.
The demand for power this year is lower than predicted.
This could be because of cooler weather and high rainfall.
However, experts still believe that in the future, demand for power will go up because of economic growth and new technologies.
Coal stocks at thermal power plants in India have increased by 27%.
Current coal stock levels are at 47.5 million tonnes.
Higher stocks are due to lower power demand and increased hydro power.
Coal production from captive and commercial mines rose 12% year-on-year.
Long-term energy demand is projected to rise around 6% per annum until 2030.
