Telecom PLI Scheme: Half of Eligible Manufacturers Receive Incentives
Imagine the government has a special program to help companies make telecom products in India.
It's like giving them a reward, called an incentive, to encourage them.
Out of many companies that were supposed to get this, only half have actually received the reward so far.
The government has already given out a lot of money, but some companies didn't meet the requirements and didn't get the incentive.
The goal is to boost local production, sales and create jobs.
It's meant to make India better at making these products, and help people find work.
21 out of 42 eligible telecom manufacturers received incentives under the PLI scheme by March 31, 2025.
The Department of Telecom has disbursed ₹1,162 crore under the scheme.
The telecom PLI scheme commenced on April 1, 2021, and is set to conclude this fiscal year.
Two companies were rejected for not meeting scheme targets.
Beneficiaries generated ₹78,672 crore in sales and ₹14,963 crore in exports till January 2025.
