Solar Panels to Warm North Bengal Swimming Pools in Winter
Imagine being able to swim in a warm pool all year round, even when it's cold outside!
In North Bengal, that's what they're planning.
The West Bengal Renewable Energy Development Agency (WEBREDA) is teaming up with Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College (JGEC) to use solar power to heat swimming pools.
This means they'll put up special panels to catch the sun's energy and warm the water.
They're starting with a test project at a local club's pool.
If it works, they'll do it at other pools too.
The plan also involves using extra solar power and potentially selling it to places like PowerGrid, which helps share electricity.
It's all about keeping the pools open for swimming, even in the winter!
WEBREDA is partnering with JGEC to use solar energy for heating swimming pools in North Bengal.
The project aims to allow swimmers to use pools during winter.
A pilot project is planned at the Muhuripara Vivekananda Sporting and Cultural Club in Jalpaiguri.
Clubs can use space on commercial and residential properties for solar panels if needed.
Surplus solar power generated can be sold to agencies like PowerGrid.
