OpenAI Developing AI-Powered Earbuds
OpenAI is working on a new AI-powered audio device called 'Sweetpea' that aims to compete with Apple's AirPods.
This device is being developed in partnership with Jony Ive and is expected to launch in September 2028.
Foxconn has been tasked with preparing five devices by Q4 2028, which could include a home-style device and a pen.
The 'Sweetpea' device is said to have a unique design shaped like an egg stone and could feature a 2nm smartphone-style chip, possibly from Samsung’s Exynos lineup.
It is designed to complement smartphones rather than replace them.
OpenAI has confirmed that they already have the first prototypes of these devices, and they are excited about the progress.
