Jay Meena Wins India’s First Asian Games Soft Tennis Medal
Jay Meena is an Indian soft tennis player from Dewas, Madhya Pradesh.
As a child, he wanted to become a cricketer.
He discovered soft tennis at Pioneer Public School, where he first watched players and helped as a ball boy.
He later competed at school, district, state, national and international levels.
At the Asian Games 2026, he won a bronze medal in men’s singles.
This made him India’s first Asian Games medallist in soft tennis.
He beat Sherwin Nuguit of the Philippines in the quarterfinals before losing to Japan’s Takuya Kurosaka in the semifinals.
Meena had also won medals at the 2024 World Soft Tennis Championships and the 2025 Asian Soft Tennis Championships.
