Tamil Nadu CM Vijay Seeks Safeguards for Southern States

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay spoke about issues affecting the southern States of India.

He said these States help produce more than 30% of India’s economy.

He worried that new rules for dividing parliamentary seats could reduce the South’s political voice.

He asked the Union government to protect States that successfully controlled population growth.

He also wanted money shared with States to reflect both their needs and their performance.

Vijay repeated Tamil Nadu’s opposition to NEET for medical admissions.

He asked southern States to cooperate on water, transport, ports, drug enforcement and industry.

He said stronger States can help create a stronger India through discussion and fair rules.
