PMUY 3.0 targets rural, tribal Assam areas
The Indian government is launching a new phase of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) 3.0 to provide free LPG connections to more people in Assam, especially in rural and tribal areas.
These areas still use traditional cooking methods like firewood, which can be harmful to health.
The government and IndianOil are working together to increase awareness and provide more LPG connections.
Assam already has good LPG coverage, but some districts like Sivasagar and Baksa have lower usage.
The new phase aims to reach these areas and make clean cooking fuel more accessible.
PMUY 3.0 will focus on rural and tribal areas in Assam with low LPG penetration.
25 lakh additional free LPG connections approved nationwide, with 5 lakh for the Northeast (2.5 lakh for Assam).
Current LPG coverage in Assam is 115.8%, but some districts like Sivasagar and Baksa have lower coverage.
Awareness campaigns and special camps will be organized to promote LPG usage and reduce reliance on traditional cooking fuels.
The Assam government will play a crucial role in generating awareness and increasing LPG coverage in low-penetration areas.
