Bengal Government Moves to Control Rising Sugar Prices
Sugar has become much more expensive in West Bengal.
Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said the government is trying to find out why.
He said officials had identified places where problems were occurring in the supply chain.
The government has restarted special teams to watch prices.
These teams will work in 72 subdivisions and 35 police commissionerates.
Officials will also look for hoarding and adulteration.
Hoarding means storing too much of a product to affect its availability or price.
Consumer Protection Week will be observed from September 1 to 7.
