From Lantern Study to IPS Officer After Leaving Lucrative Job

Sharan Gopinath Kamble grew up in a poor family in Maharashtra.

His parents worked as daily-wage labourers and sold vegetables.

His house did not have electricity until he was in Class 11, so he studied with a kerosene lantern.

He traveled far each day to attend school.

Kamble later earned engineering degrees from Walchand College of Engineering and IISc Bengaluru.

He gave up a private job paying about Rs 20 lakh a year to prepare for public-service examinations.

He passed several competitive examinations and became an IPS officer.
