Delhi Woman Wins Rs 2.33 Lakh Payout
A woman in Delhi went to a fertility clinic for IVF treatment.
The clinic first said she didn't have fibroids, but later said she did and couldn't have a baby because of them.
The woman paid a lot of money but didn't get the treatment she was promised.
She complained to a consumer commission, which decided the clinic had to give her back all the money she paid, plus extra money for the trouble she went through.
The clinic didn't show up to defend itself, so the commission believed the woman's story.
A Delhi woman paid Rs 1.73 lakh for IVF treatment at Baby Joy Fertility & IVF Centre Private Limited.
The clinic initially said she had no fibroids, but later diagnosed her with fibroids, preventing conception.
The Delhi Consumer Commission ordered the clinic to refund the entire amount with 9% interest and pay Rs 50,000 as compensation.
The clinic failed to provide proper IVF treatment and offered contradictory medical advice.
The commission also awarded Rs 10,000 towards litigation costs, to be deposited with the Delhi State Legal Services Authority.
