Tripura High Court Dismisses Congress Leader's Compensation Claim

A former Congress leader in Tripura, Gopal Chandra Roy, asked the court for Rs 10 lakh because he felt his rights were violated during a police search of his home in 2020.

The police were investigating him for allegedly using a fake letter with the state emblem to spread false information about COVID-19.

The court said it couldn't decide if the police broke any laws and told him to ask a civil court for compensation instead.

The initial claim was dismissed by a single judge in 2023, and the high court agreed with that decision.
