Clash in UP village over disputed land
In a village in Uttar Pradesh, a tehsildar and his team went to measure a piece of land that is being disputed.
The villagers did not want the measurement to happen because the land dispute is still being decided in court.
They started throwing stones and said the tehsildar was working with people who want to take the land illegally.
The tehsildar said the villagers attacked him and damaged his car.
The police have filed cases against some villagers, but the villagers say the police are not doing enough to protect them.
Some women from the village were hurt in the clash, and the villagers are upset about that.
The next court hearing about the land is on January 16.
Tehsildar Sandeep Singh and his team were chased away by villagers while measuring disputed land in Nagla Godi village, Etah.
Villagers alleged the tehsildar was working with the 'land mafia' to encroach on the land illegally.
The land dispute is pending in court, with the next hearing scheduled for January 16.
Villagers claimed women from their family were assaulted during the clash, with one suffering a fracture and another losing consciousness.
Police have registered cases against 12 named and 20 unidentified persons for stone-pelting, obstruction of government work, and damage to public property.
