India Invests Heavily in Aviation Sector
The Indian government has invested a lot of money, over Rs 96,000 crore, to make airports better.
This was done from 2019 to 2025.
Now, India has 162 airports, and many people are flying.
In 2024-25, 412 million passengers traveled by air, which is more than the year before.
The government also has a plan to help people fly to smaller cities, making flights cheaper.
The government is also open to building new airports if someone wants to build them, but hasn't received any plans for new airports in certain areas.
India's aviation sector received over Rs 96,000 crore in capital expenditure between FY2019-20 and FY2024-25.
There are currently 162 operational airports, including heliports and water aerodromes, in India.
Indian airports saw a total of 412 million passengers in 2024-25, with 9% year-on-year growth.
The Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS-UDAN) has operationalized 637 routes since its launch in 2016.
No proposals have been received for new Greenfield airports in Palghar or Pachmarhi/Matkuli.
