The Lady Killer Flops Massively, Suffers Huge Financial Loss
A movie called 'The Lady Killer' cost a lot of money to make, about 45 crore rupees.
When it came out in theaters in November 2023, hardly anyone went to see it, selling only 293 tickets on the first day.
The makers decided to release it with very little advertising, hoping it would do well on a streaming service like Netflix later.
They even thought about releasing it without the ending fully filmed to meet the release date.
However, because so few people watched it in theaters, the streaming service decided not to show it.
This made the movie a huge failure, losing almost all the money it cost to make.
The film 'The Lady Killer', directed by Ajay Bahl and starring Arjun Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar, had a budget of 45 crore rupees.
The movie sold only 293 tickets on its opening day and its total box office collection was under one lakh rupees.
The film received a limited release in November 2023 as a condition for a planned streaming release on Netflix.
The makers opted for a token release with minimal publicity, possibly due to the film being incomplete, including an unshot climax.
The streaming deal with Netflix was canceled after the film's poor performance at the box office, leading to significant financial losses.
