India's Lok Sabha Passes Bill to Boost Critical Mineral Production
The Indian government passed a new law to make it easier to find and use important minerals.
These minerals are needed for many industries, and the government wants to make sure India can get them without relying on other countries.
A new mission will help look for these minerals, with a lot of exploration projects planned over the next few years.
Because India currently relies on imports for these minerals, the new law should help the country become more self-sufficient.
The Lok Sabha passed the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2025.
The bill aims to simplify regulations and promote mineral conservation.
It supports the objectives of the National Critical Mineral Mission.
The Geological Survey of India will conduct 1,200 exploration projects from 2024-25 to 2030-31.
India is currently reliant on imports for critical minerals.
