Fahadh Faasil's acting masterclass across three distinct 2019 characters
Fahadh Faasil is a famous Indian movie actor.
In 2019, he played three very different characters in three different movies.
One character, Shammi, was a proud and scary man who thought he was the best.
Another character, Dr Kannan Nair, was a smart doctor with big plans and hidden layers.
The third character, Mugil, was a young man having the worst day of his life.
People loved his performance as Shammi so much that his other two roles got less attention.
But he was brilliant in all three movies, making each one feel real and unique.
He gave each character a different smile and a different way of speaking.
That is why 2019 was called a year that fully belonged to Fahadh Faasil.
Fahadh Faasil played three distinct roles in 2019: Shammi in Kumbalangi Nights, Dr Kannan Nair/Vinayan in Athiran, and Mugil in Super Deluxe.
His acclaimed performance as Shammi in Kumbalangi Nights eclipsed his work in the other two films he did that same year.
In Kumbalangi Nights, director Madhu C Narayanan and writer Syam Pushkaran subverted the 'complete man' myth, exposing villainy in patriarchs and how they use family to exploit women.
In Athiran, his character Dr Kannan Nair/Vinayan explored mental health struggles and how far one would go for love.
In Super Deluxe, his character Mugil explored masculinity's fragility and the impact of a failed marriage on a new-era young man, with Samantha Ruth Prabhu playing his wife Vembu.
Fahadh gave each character a unique smile, voice modulation, pacing, and body language, evoking exactly the emotions each narrative intended.
