Federal Judge Blocks Trump Admin Funding Freeze

Federal Judge Blocks Trump Admin Funding Freeze

A judge said the Trump administration can't stop sending money to five states for programs that help poor families with child care and other needs.

The states said the administration was causing problems by freezing the money without a good reason.

The administration said it thought the states were giving money to people who aren't supposed to get it.

The judge said the states can keep getting the money for now while the court figures out what to do next.

The states get over $10 billion a year from these programs, and the judge's decision helps keep the money flowing for at least two weeks.

In Minnesota, the Trump administration also stopped funding for SNAP and other programs because of suspected fraud.

The state says it is trying to stop fraud but needs public trust to continue helping people.
