Bombay High Court Upholds Dargah Demolition Order
The Bombay High Court said "no" to a group that built a religious building (Dargah) without permission.
The building was much bigger than it was supposed to be, and the group didn't have the right paperwork.
The court said they couldn't just claim the land, and they had to prove it was theirs.
They also didn't get the permits to build.
The group claimed the Dargah was there before, but the court didn't believe them and said they had to take it down in two weeks.
The court also noted they did not attend the hearings from the municipality.
Bombay High Court dismissed a plea challenging demolition of an illegal Dargah in Thane.
The Dargah expanded from 160 sq. ft. to 17,610 sq. ft. without municipal approval.
The court stated that the Trust's claim of the Dargah's legality was not supported.
The court noted the Trust failed to provide evidence of ownership or construction permissions.
The court ordered the Dargah's demolition within two weeks of the order's posting.
