Luthra Brothers' Deportation from Thailand to India
Two brothers who own a nightclub in Goa, India, are being sent back from Thailand to India.
They are being sent back because a fire at their nightclub killed 25 people.
The brothers were caught in Phuket, Thailand, and are now in Bangkok waiting to be sent back.
They will face serious charges in India for the fire.
The fire happened because the nightclub did not follow safety rules.
Other people who worked at the nightclub have already been arrested.
The brothers say they were not the real owners and were just there for a business meeting, but the authorities do not believe them.
The brothers tried to get special permission to avoid being arrested when they return to India, but the court said no because the fire was a very serious accident.
Thai authorities have initiated the deportation process for Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra, co-owners of the Goa nightclub where 25 people died in a fire on December 6.
The brothers were captured in Phuket on December 9 and are currently held at Bangkok’s main immigration office.
The Indian embassy in Bangkok is coordinating closely with Thai authorities for their smooth transfer to India.
The brothers are expected to be sent to Delhi as early as next Tuesday night to face investigation and charges, including culpable homicide and fire safety violations.
The investigation is scrutinizing the roles of Goa municipal and fire department officials who granted operational permits to the club.
