SC Dismisses Telangana's Petition Against Harish Rao
The Supreme Court of India has dismissed a petition filed by the Telangana government against BRS leader T. Harish Rao.
The case was about a phone tapping complaint filed by a real estate businessman named Chakradhar Goud.
The Telangana High Court had earlier said there was no proof that Harish Rao or the former DCP Radhakishan Rao were involved in the phone tapping.
The Supreme Court agreed with the High Court and said the state could not ask for a different decision on the same charges.
The court also said that the police cannot expect two different verdicts on the same case.
The state wanted to continue the investigation, but the Supreme Court said there was no new evidence to support that.
The Supreme Court dismissed the Telangana government's petition against BRS leader T. Harish Rao in a phone tapping case.
The case was based on a complaint by real estate businessman Chakradhar Goud, alleging illegal phone tapping by Harish Rao and former DCP Radhakishan Rao.
The Telangana High Court had earlier quashed the FIR against Harish Rao and Radhakishan Rao, finding no evidence linking them to the offence.
The Supreme Court bench, comprising Justice B.V. Nagarathna and Justice Ujjal Bhuyan, refused to intervene, stating that the High Court's decision was well-reasoned.
The court observed that the police could not expect contradictory verdicts on identical charges and that there was no fresh material warranting intervention.
