Uttar Pradesh Leads Groundwater Testing, Achieves 94.39 Percent Target

Uttar Pradesh tested many groundwater sources to check their quality and condition.

The testing was carried out by state and district laboratories.

The state tested 45,361 sources out of a goal of 48,055.

This means it completed 94.39% of its target.

Based on data through September 15, 2026, this was the highest result among Indian states.

The national average was 50.46%.

Punjab and Andhra Pradesh followed Uttar Pradesh in the ranking.

Uttar Pradesh still needs to test 2,694 sources to finish its target.

Officials said regular testing helps monitor drinking-water quality and water-source sustainability.
