Scam dupes Thane man of Rs 8.43 lakh; four booked

Some people promised a man in Ambernath, India, that he could make easy money.

They said he would earn 5 to 10 rupees for every 100 rupees he invested every month.

The money would come from trading foreign money and digital coins called cryptocurrency.

The man gave them his money because the promises sounded great.

The scammers made fake websites that looked like real investment trackers.

Those websites showed false profit numbers in US dollars, so the man thought he was earning a lot.

Encouraged by the fake profits, he sent more money, about 11.54 lakh rupees in total.

The scammers sent a little money back, about 3.11 lakh rupees, to make him believe it was real.

In the end, the man lost 8.43 lakh rupees and went to the police.

Now the police are investigating to catch the four scammers.
