India's NH44: Most Unsafe Highway with Rising Accident Deaths
Imagine a super long road, like a really long river, that goes from one end of India to the other.
This road is called National Highway 44 (NH44).
Unfortunately, a part of it, especially in Haryana and Delhi, is not very safe.
Last year, many people died in accidents on this road.
The government and organizations are trying to figure out why and make the road safer.
NH44 is the longest road in India and it goes through many cities, helping people travel and transport goods.
Some experts are working on making this important road safer for everyone.
National Highway 44 (NH44), connecting Srinagar to Kanyakumari, is reportedly the most unsafe highway in India.
In 2023, 715 fatalities occurred on the 266-kilometre section of NH44 in Haryana due to road accidents.
The Delhi section of NH44, spanning 30 kilometres, recorded 63 deaths in accidents during the same year.
NH44 is the longest national highway in India, stretching 4,112 kilometres and connecting various cities.
The SaveLife Foundation is assessing highway stretches and taking corrective measures to reduce accidents.
