Tata Trusts Face Caveats After Srinivasan Governance Complaint
Venu Srinivasan is a trustee who has complained about how one Tata charity is being managed.
He questioned Noel Tata’s position as a perpetual trustee and Neville Tata’s appointment.
He also said he was left out of important trust decisions.
Srinivasan believes the trust tried to stop him from voting independently on whether Tata Sons should be listed on the stock market.
He asked Maharashtra’s Charity Commissioner to investigate.
Noel Tata and Neville Tata, and possibly several Tata trusts, filed caveats asking to be heard before any order is made.
The reports disagree about whether one trust or seven trusts filed the caveats.
A similar dispute involving another trust previously contributed to the postponement of Tata Sons’ annual meeting.
Venu Srinivasan asked Maharashtra’s Charity Commissioner to investigate governance at the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust.
His complaint questions Noel Tata’s perpetual trusteeship, Neville Tata’s appointment and Srinivasan’s exclusion from decisions.
Srinivasan says SDTT tried to restrict his independent voting on a proposed Tata Sons listing.
Reports differ on the caveats: one names SDTT, while another says seven Tata shareholder trusts filed two sets.
The dispute follows restrictions on Sir Ratan Tata Trust, which delayed Tata Sons’ AGM and affected its voting and dividend decisions.
