VDVK Established to Boost Self-Sustainability for Onge Tribe
The government is helping the Onge tribe, a small group of people in Little Andaman, by creating a special center called a VDVK.
This center helps them make money by selling things made from coconuts, like oil.
The tribe already knew how to make these products, so the government gave them tools, training, and a place to sell their goods.
This helps the Onge people support themselves and their community by building on their traditional practices.
It's like adding some new tools to an old skill to make it even better.
A Van Dhan Vikas Kendra (VDVK) was established for the Onge tribe in Little Andaman.
The VDVK aims to promote self-sustainability through coconut-based products.
The initiative builds upon the tribe's traditional practices, with value addition and market creation.
Initially, 56 Onge members will focus on producing value-added coconut products.
Members have received training and toolkits, including machinery for high-quality production.
