Mumbai Ganesh Visarjan Features Grand Shivaji-Inspired Floral Tribute

Mumbai is celebrating the end of its Ganesh festival with a large procession.

This farewell ceremony is called Ganesh Visarjan.

In Lalbaug, a group called the Shroff Building Pushpavrushti Utsav Mandal has built a special flower machine.

The machine is inspired by the Jiretop worn by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

It will drop flowers on Ganesh idols as they pass below.

Lalbaugcha Raja and Mumbaicha Raja are among the idols passing through the area.

The group has performed this flower shower tradition since 1970.

People operate the large machine by hand to create a festive welcome for devotees.
