Monster Nor’easter Slams East Coast, Leaving One Dead

A very strong coastal storm called a nor’easter hit the East Coast over the weekend.

It brought heavy rain, powerful winds and flooding.

Many homes lost electricity, and thousands of flights were delayed or canceled.

A falling tree killed Leighton Brown while he was working in Brooklyn.

The Outer Banks saw very large waves and flooding.

Some roads and islands were cut off by water.

Emergency ferries began serving Hatteras Island because Highway 12 was blocked.

The storm should become weaker, but flooding and rain may continue through Monday.
