Supreme Court's Vikram Nath: Institutions Must Welcome Scrutiny

A big-court judge named Justice Vikram Nath gave a speech in New Delhi.

He said that important public institutions, like courts and government offices, should be happy when people ask questions about them.

He said that being checked on is a sign of strength, not weakness.

He also said that if citizens are expected to respect institutions, institutions must explain how they use their power.

Another top judge, the Chief Justice of India, talked about how technology is changing the courts.

He said people can now track their court cases on their phones.

He also said that artificial intelligence, or AI, can help judges but can never replace them.

A third judge said courts must be easier for everyone to use, even people who cannot travel to them.

The event also welcomed a judge from Zambia.

The main message was that courts must be fair, open, and use new tools to serve people better.
