SAIL to Invest ₹7,500 Crore to Expand Steel Plant Capacities
SAIL, a big steel company, plans to spend a lot of money this year to make their plants bigger, about 7,500 crore rupees.
They want to make more steel overall, aiming for 35 million tonnes by 2030.
They've already started, spending more in the first few months than they planned.
Some plants are being expanded.
Also, the company made a lot more profit recently compared to last year because they sold more steel and managed money well.
SAIL expects strong demand in India but notes global pressures such as imports and overcapacity.
SAIL plans ₹7,500 crore capex in FY26, 25% more than the previous year.
Expansion aims to increase SAIL's capacity to 35 million tonnes by 2030.
₹1,642 crore spent in Q1, exceeding the initial target.
IISCO Steel Plant and Durgapur Steel Plant have ongoing expansion plans.
SAIL reported a multi-fold rise in Q1 consolidated net profit to ₹885.93 crore.
