Assam's MMUA Scheme Launches with Financial Aid for Women
Imagine a program to help women start or grow their own small businesses.
In Patharkandi, Assam, about 16,000 women are getting money from the government to do just that.
The program is called Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Asoni (MMUA).
Each woman received Rs 10,000 at first.
This money is meant to help them start businesses or make their existing ones better.
The government hopes this helps families and the local economy.
The Chief Minister handed out the cheques and said it's an investment in women.
In the following years, women will receive further financial assistance, including bank support.
They must use the money to grow their business and are encouraged to invest wisely.
