FinMin Asks CPSEs to Halt Festival Gift Spending
The government's finance ministry is telling companies they own (called CPSEs) not to spend money on gifts for Diwali and other festivals.
They want to be careful with how they spend money that comes from the public.
This is like when your parents tell you not to buy extra toys to save money.
This isn't the first time they've tried to save money.
They also stopped printing calendars a few years ago.
This new rule only applies to government-owned companies, not other groups.
So, no more fancy gifts from these companies this holiday season!
The Finance Ministry has directed CPSEs to stop purchasing gifts for festivals.
The directive aims for a more judicious use of public resources.
This advisory was sent to all CPSE CEOs.
The directive was also shared with administrative ministry secretaries.
This measure is more specific than previous austerity directives.
