Akhil Gogoi to Contest Sivasagar in 2026
Akhil Gogoi, who is a leader and MLA from Sivasagar, said he will run for office again in 2026.
He believes he will win by a big margin and wants to fix all the problems in his area if he becomes part of the government.
He also thinks that his political group, Asom Sonmilito Morcha, needs to decide who will run for which seats to stop the BJP from winning.
Gogoi also accused a Union Minister, Pabitra Margherita, of being involved in a case related to the death of a famous cultural figure, Zubeen Garg, and demanded his arrest.
The BJP, however, said Gogoi would lose if elections were held today and claimed he had not done much for development.
Akhil Gogoi announced he will contest from Sivasagar in the 2026 Assam Assembly elections.
Gogoi asserted his victory is '100% certain' and aims to resolve constituency problems within five years.
He emphasized the need for seat-sharing among Asom Sonmilito Morcha parties to counter the BJP.
Gogoi accused Union Minister Pabitra Margherita of involvement in Zubeen Garg's death case and demanded his arrest.
BJP Mahila Morcha president Nilima Devi dismissed Gogoi's claims, stating he would lose if elections were held today.
