Punjab Prepares to Curb Terror
A long time ago, on January 7, 1986, the Punjab Government in India was very worried about terrorists causing trouble.
They decided to take strong actions to stop them.
The Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi, also talked to scientists and told them to be better at managing their work.
Meanwhile, a group called the All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF) planned to protest by blocking roads on January 10.
The Punjab Chief Minister, Surjit Singh Barnala, wanted the police to take strong action against the terrorists.
The AISSF said they would go ahead with their protest peacefully.
Also, in a different place called Libya, people were worried about an attack from Israel.
Punjab Government ordered drastic steps to curb terrorist activity following seven deaths in 24 hours.
Chief Minister Surjit Singh Barnala demanded 'result-oriented' action from police officials.
AISSF announced plans to hold a 'rasta roko' (road block) protest on January 10.
AISSF convener Harinder Singh Kahlon declared the protest would proceed peacefully.
Libya anticipated a US-aided Israeli strike and briefed diplomats from various regions.
