Clintons Face Contempt Threat in Epstein Inquiry
There's a big argument happening between some politicians and the Clintons.
The politicians want the Clintons to come and talk to them about a man named Jeffrey Epstein, who did bad things.
The Clintons say they don't know much about him and don't want to come.
The politicians are saying if the Clintons don't come, they might get in big trouble.
The Clintons' lawyer is saying this is unfair because other people who were asked to talk didn't have to come in person.
It's all very complicated and political.
House Oversight Committee chair Rep. James Comer threatened contempt proceedings against Bill and Hillary Clinton for not appearing in person for depositions related to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation.
The Clintons' attorney, David Kendall, has argued that they should only provide sworn statements, similar to other former officials who were excused from live depositions.
Comer has accused the Clintons of delaying and obstructing the committee's efforts, while Kendall claims the committee is targeting them for partisan reasons.
Bill Clinton had limited association with Epstein, taking four trips on his private jet but never visiting his private island, while Hillary Clinton had minimal contact with Ghislaine Maxwell.
The committee has excused several other former officials from live depositions, leading Kendall to question the committee's neutrality in focusing on the Clintons.
