West Bengal Grants 20% DA Hike to State Employees
The West Bengal government said it will give its workers a 20% raise in the extra money they get for living costs.
This raise will start in October 2026.
Workers will also get their October pay earlier, before the big Durga Puja festival.
The state wants to make its workers’ pay closer to what people in the national government get.
A new pay review panel has been set up to help with this.
West Bengal will give state employees a 20% dearness allowance hike effective October 2026.
October salaries will be released before Durga Puja to help workers get money earlier.
The state aims to reduce the 42% DA gap between state and central employees to 22%.
A 7th pay commission has been constituted to review salaries and allowances.
The chief minister said the state will gradually bridge the DA gap and implement commission recommendations.
