CIO Proposes Growth Ideas for Budget 2026
Gurmeet Chadha, a top executive at an investment firm, has shared some ideas to help the Indian economy grow.
He thinks the government should make it easier for people to buy homes by offering bigger loans at lower interest rates, especially for people living abroad.
He also suggests letting people borrow money using their gold and silver as security.
Additionally, he believes taxes on profits from selling investments should be lowered to make India more attractive to investors.
He thinks these changes will help the economy grow and make more people want to invest in India.
Proposed increasing affordable housing home loan limit to Rs 25 lakh at special interest rates of 5–6% and targeting NRIs.
Suggested monetizing gold and silver through short-term concessional loans at special rates of repo plus 200 bps (7–8%) for 3 months.
Recommended reducing the Long-Term Capital Gains (LTCG) tax rate to 10% to boost investor sentiment and competitiveness.
Highlighted the need for macroeconomic stability for long-term impact of reforms.
Noted that current LTCG tax rates are hurting India's attractiveness to global investors.
