IITs to audit Delhi's Signature Bridge
The Signature Bridge in Delhi, which opened in 2018, is going to be checked by experts from IIT Delhi and IIT Kanpur.
The bridge is special because it's the first of its kind in India.
The Public Works Department (PWD) is now in charge of the bridge and thinks it hasn't been taken care of properly.
They want the experts to check the bridge's condition because it's been a long time since it was built and no one has checked it properly before.
The PWD thinks that bridges like this should be checked at least twice a year.
IIT Delhi and IIT Kanpur to conduct a structural audit of Delhi's Signature Bridge.
The bridge was opened to the public in 2018 and is India's first asymmetrical cable-stayed bridge.
PWD took over maintenance from DTTDC and claims the bridge has not been properly maintained.
No structural audit has been conducted since the bridge's opening.
PWD officials suggest that structural audits for elevated corridors should be conducted at least twice a year.
