Delhi to revamp water infrastructure
The Delhi government wants to fix its water billing system because many people aren't getting their bills.
Right now, only 40% of people with registered water connections receive bills.
The government says the system has problems, like people not getting bills for a long time and then getting very big bills suddenly.
They plan to upgrade the software and make a new system to collect water bills better.
This will help more people pay their bills on time.
Additionally, nearly 50% of Delhi’s drinking water pipelines are very old, and the government plans to replace them over the next few years.
This will cost a lot of money but will help provide clean water to everyone in Delhi.
Delhi government plans to overhaul the water billing system due to widespread issues.
Currently, only 40% of registered customers receive water bills.
Around 29 lakh water connections are registered in Delhi.
Nearly 50% of Delhi’s drinking water pipelines are 20 to 30 years old.
The government plans to replace 7,000 km of old pipelines in the next two years at a cost of Rs 50,000 crore.
