SC Pushes for Pregnant Woman's Return
The Supreme Court of India has asked the government to think about letting a pregnant woman named Sonali Khatun and her family come back into India.
Sonali and her family were sent to Bangladesh, but a lower court said this was not legal.
The Supreme Court wants the government to consider letting them return because Sonali is pregnant and needs medical care.
The court also suggested that Sonali and her child could be kept under watch in a hospital.
The next hearing about this is on December 3.
Sonali said she wants to return to India so her baby can be born there.
She has been through a lot, including being in jail in Bangladesh.
The family has been living in India for over two decades and were detained on suspicion of being Bangladeshi nationals.
The Supreme Court asked the Centre to consider allowing a pregnant woman, Sonali Khatun, and her child to enter India on humanitarian grounds.
The family was deported to Bangladesh and their deportation was deemed illegal by the Calcutta High Court.
The court suggested keeping the woman and her child under surveillance in a hospital to avoid complications.
The matter is posted for hearing on December 3, with the Solicitor General to seek instructions on the issue.
