Fitch Upgrades Indian Banks' Ratings Due to Improved Risk Management
Imagine big Indian banks are like students getting better grades.
The company that grades them, Fitch Ratings, gave many of them better scores, called Viability Ratings.
This means the banks are now better at managing money and not taking big risks.
They're also doing a better job of making sure their loans are paid back.
Some banks got even better grades, like ICICI Bank.
However, some banks are still working on improving because they're growing quickly.
Fitch said that the government's ability to help the banks if they have problems hasn't changed.
Fitch Ratings upgraded the Viability Ratings of several major Indian banks.
Upgrades reflect improved risk profiles and asset quality.
ICICI Bank received the highest Viability Rating among the banks evaluated.
IDRs were not altered because they are influenced by government support.
Some banks still face constraints due to aggressive growth strategies.
