Adani Group Ventures into Battery Storage with India's Largest BESS Project
Adani Group is building a giant battery in India called a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).
This battery will be the biggest in India and one of the largest in the world.
It will store energy from clean sources like solar and wind, and can provide power for three hours.
This helps make sure electricity is available when people need it most, especially during busy times.
It's a big step for India to use more clean energy and be more independent with its power.
Adani plans to build even more of these large batteries in the future to help India meet its clean energy goals.
Adani Group is entering the Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) market with a 1,126 MW/3,530 MWh project.
This project, located in Khavda, Gujarat, will be India's largest single-site energy storage facility and among the world's largest.
The facility, comprising over 700 BESS containers, is scheduled for commissioning by March 2026.
It utilizes lithium-ion battery technology integrated with advanced energy management systems to support peak load management and grid stability.
Adani plans to expand its BESS capacity, targeting an additional 15 GWh by March 2027 and 50 GWh within five years.
