ED investigates Rs 164 crore fictitious transactions in Trinamool accounts
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is looking into some bank accounts of the Trinamool Congress party.
They found transactions worth Rs 164 crore that they think might not be real.
The ED and the West Bengal Police have put restrictions on these accounts so the money can't be taken out.
There are 15 accounts in total with restrictions, and the total money in all of them is around Rs 1,000 crore.
The restrictions started after some people in the party and a former minister asked the police to check the accounts because they were worried the money might be used in a bad way or come from corruption.
ED is investigating alleged fictitious transactions worth Rs 164 crore in one of the frozen bank accounts of Trinamool Congress.
Debit restrictions are imposed on 15 bank accounts of Trinamool Congress, with 3 accounts having restrictions from both ED and West Bengal Police.
Total deposits in the 3 restricted accounts are Rs 440 crore, while all 15 accounts combined have deposits of around Rs 1,000 crore.
Restrictions were imposed following allegations from a former party treasurer and rebel MLAs about potential misuse of funds and corruption.
The ED has sought details of the transactions from the bank where the account is held.
