Punjab Unions End Strikes After Government Negotiations

Punjab Unions End Strikes After Government Negotiations

In Punjab, 16 power sector unions and staff from Aam Aadmi Clinics went on strike to demand better job security and regularization of their services.

After long negotiations led by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema and Power Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond, the unions agreed to end their strikes.

The government formed a financial committee to address the unions' financial demands and accepted some of their key requests, like counting service experience for regular posts.

The government also proposed an ordinance to transition outsourced staff into contractual roles, providing better job security.

The unions withdrew their strikes after these agreements.
