Karnataka Invites Tamil Nadu for Mekedatu Talks
The Chief Minister of Karnataka, D K Shivakumar, has invited his counterpart from Tamil Nadu, C Joseph Vijay, for a meeting in Bengaluru.
The meeting is tentatively scheduled for August 3 and will focus on the Mekedatu dam proposal and the release of Cauvery water.
Karnataka is ready to discuss and work with Tamil Nadu, but Tamil Nadu has strongly opposed the Mekedatu dam.
Opposition parties in Tamil Nadu, like the PMK, are against holding talks with Karnataka on this issue, believing it should be confronted through legal avenues.
