Telangana's Revenue Deficit Narrows, Fiscal Deficit Widens
Telangana's government collected less money than it spent, leading to a wider gap between income and expenditure.
However, the difference between what the state earned and what it should have earned (revenue deficit) got smaller.
The state borrowed more money to cover the difference, which is why the overall deficit (fiscal deficit) increased.
The government still has five months to collect more money and spend less to meet its budget targets.
Telangana's revenue deficit declined from ₹112,452.89 crore in September 2025 to ₹10,113.37 crore in October.
The fiscal deficit increased from ₹45,139.12 crore to ₹50,541.22 crore during the same period.
The state realised 50.95% of total budgeted receipts and 50.83% of total expenditure targets in the seven-month period from April to October.
GST collections remained strong at ₹30,569.02 crore, achieving 51.20% of the budget target.
Borrowings reached 93.58% of the full-year projection by October, with the state securing ₹50,541.22 crore in loans.
