Lord Ahmed says Britain lags as Hormuz crisis reshapes diplomacy

Lord Tariq Ahmad says Britain is not doing enough to help solve the Middle East crisis.

He believes countries such as Pakistan, Qatar, Türkiye and Oman are playing bigger roles in negotiations.

The Strait of Hormuz is very important because many ships and energy supplies pass through it.

Iran is using control over the strait to gain leverage.

Ahmad says Britain should help reopen the route while also working to stop Iran from developing a nuclear weapon.

He does not think bombing Iran would create lasting political change.

He believes long-term relationships are essential for diplomacy.

He also says Britain’s trade deal with India needs better planning.

Finally, he warns that artificial intelligence will change jobs and daily life, but people must not lose human contact.
