Calcutta High Court Upholds Entry Ban on Bangladeshi Woman

A man asked the Calcutta High Court to let his wife and their young son enter India.

His wife is a citizen of Bangladesh.

She had previously travelled to India on a visa for spouses of Indian citizens.

Immigration officials stopped her from entering India when she returned from Bangladesh.

They said she had obtained an Indian voter card and PAN card through fraud.

The court agreed with the officials and rejected the husband’s request.

The authorities said Indian law allows them to restrict someone’s entry.
